Inspector Engagement

This weekend just gone was our engagement party (and the reason I haven't blogged in a week) and now I think I'm suffering from post-big event depression. Well depression is a bit strong but you spend so long thinking and planning and thinking things like:

oh-my-god-do-we-cater-for-ninety-people-or-one-hundred-aarrgh and will anyone even come, and what if people come but they don't have fun and, what do you mean they don't have music Dad, oh okay what's that? A beatles tribute band inside? well yeah I like the beatles I guess Cake? do we need cake? will people eat cake? what kind of cake?

Surprisingly my head didn't explode. And the party went off without a hitch. I saw no sign of any Beatles and I don't think people noticed there was no music outside. They just had to talk. Food was good, speeches were sweet and we both looked the part. I only had a small bottle of champagne and half a beer. So I didn't contribute much to the bar tab.

Now only two years to the wedding, which is apparently (excuse this) 'friggin ridiculous'*. But anyway there is good reason for it as the man is completing his PhD, and being one of those guys that gets involved and would like to be a part of things, we're putting it off until he finishes doing that. Not to mention weddings cost just a little bit of money so we have quite a bit of saving in front of us.

So although we're engaged (more officially now too!), we're both young and are happy to wait a couple of years.

Photos to come!

ps, it was a good party, but that Beatles band would have been great! And had I been drunker, I would have yelled out to you to give a speech!
Now hurry and get some photo's up.
